Virtual Pet App Trends in Latin America: Q1 2021 Insights from Sensor Tower

The virtual pet category has always been a beloved niche in the mobile app world. Sensor Tower's data for the first quarter of 2021 gives us a glimpse into the performance of the top five virtual pet apps on the iOS platform in Latin America.

Starting with My Cat – Virtual Pet Games by Akita Limited Liability Company, the app saw a gradual decrease in downloads, starting at 11K in the last week of December 2020 and ending at approximately 7K by the end of March 2021. Weekly active users followed a similar downward trend from 48K to 38K. Revenue figures also showed a slight decrease over the quarter, starting at $13K and closing at around $12K.

My Talking Tom 2, developed by Outfit7 Limited, exhibited fluctuating download numbers, with a peak of 21K in the last week of March. Active users showed a slight overall decline from 229K to 234K, despite some weekly fluctuations. Revenue for the app experienced ups and downs, starting at $2K and rising to nearly $2K by the end of March.

Another Outfit7 Limited creation, My Talking Angela, showed download figures that ranged from 17K to approximately 15K by quarter's end. The app's weekly active users remained relatively steady, with a slight increase from 146K to 148K. Revenue began at $1K and ended the quarter at just over $1K.

The original My Talking Tom also had a consistent performance in terms of downloads, with numbers starting at 19K and peaking at 17K in the last week of March. Active user count had a modest decline from 319K to 297K. Revenue saw a general increase, beginning at $688 and ending the quarter at $936.

Lastly, My Talking Tom Friends had downloads that ranged from 21K to 15K, showing a slight downward trend. Active users had a minimal decrease from 196K to 183K. Revenue began at $370 and saw some variability, concluding the quarter at $465.
